Pros

  • Work from any computer
  • ...good for group work
  • Accessible for clients 
  • Hosted by US (no server fiddle)

Cons

  • Can't develop/test offline
  • Uploading off-campus require VPN
  • Tedious Workflow (save-upload-view) unless you find a good plugin for your editor.

Pros

  • You already set up the server
  • You can work offline
  • Simple workflow

Cons

  • Very local (bad for group projects)
  • Some fiddling might be needed
  • Clients can't preview

Locally with XAMPP

Pros

  • Easy to manage multiple sites
  • Easy setup that just works
  • Can work offline
  • Can show online (for clients)

Cons

  • Only local (bad for group projects)
  •  A bit sluggish on old computers
  • Not for Win 10 Home edition
  • Some promotional email now and then

Local By Flywheel

Pros

  • Easy to install 

Cons

  • Same as other offline problems

Bitnami plugin for WAMP

Pros

  • Good simulation of real deployment server
  • Ready made packages (containers) configured by pros
  • (Local is made with docker)
  • Possible to view site for clients

  • Requires some fiddling to get started
  • Only local (bad for group projects)
